Your questions, answered.
What does Celluma light therapy treat?
Across the Celluma range, FDA-cleared treatment options address acne, wrinkles, aches and pain, hair growth and body contouring. Each model brings specific treatment modes together, so you can choose the device that fits your goals.
What is LED light therapy?
LED light therapy and red light therapy are common names for light-based treatments. The scientific process behind Celluma is photobiomodulation (PBM): specific wavelengths of light interact with cells and influence biological activity. LED describes the light source, while red refers to one part of the light spectrum. Celluma uses selected combinations of blue, red and near-infrared light in preset programmes for different treatment goals. [1] [2]
How does red light therapy work?
Red light therapy delivers light energy that supports cellular activity involved in skin renewal and tissue recovery. Celluma pairs red and near-infrared light in treatment-specific programmes, while its blue light targets acne-associated bacteria. The wavelength combination, light dose and delivery are programmed for the treatment mode you select.
How do I use Celluma and choose a treatment mode?
Using Celluma is simple: select the preset mode for your treatment goal, position the device as directed and press Start. Celluma controls the programmed light delivery for you. Across the range, modes include Acne, Wrinkles, Aches & Pain, Hair and Contour, with the selection depending on your model.
Why does a Celluma treatment take 30 minutes?
Treatment time is an essential part of delivering the right light dose. Celluma’s 30-minute programmes combine controlled light output with a defined exposure time, so the treatment area receives the dose the programme is designed to deliver. [1]
Red and near-infrared light work at the cellular level through a process called photobiomodulation. This can stimulate mitochondrial activity, increase the production of ATP—the energy cells use—and influence cellular signalling. [2] [3]
These biological responses depend on how the light is delivered. Increasing the intensity to shorten a session does not necessarily produce the same response, even when the total amount of light energy is similar. A higher intensity does not automatically mean a better or faster result. [4]
Photobiomodulation research has also demonstrated a biphasic dose response: increasing the dose beyond an effective range can reduce the beneficial response. This is why the balance between light output and treatment duration matters. [5]
Celluma’s programmed treatment time brings these principles into a simple, consistent routine. Select the appropriate mode, position the device as directed and complete the full programme recommended for your model and treatment.
How often should I use Celluma, and when will I see results?
For wrinkles, Celluma’s protocols typically start with two to three sessions a week for four weeks. Hair-growth programmes follow a longer course. Use your model’s instructions to plan the schedule for your chosen mode. Our team can help you establish a consistent routine and review your progress; results vary with your concern and starting point.
Can I use Celluma red light therapy at home?
Yes. Celluma brings medical-grade red light and LED therapy into your home with easy-to-use preset programmes. Choose a home-use model with the modes you need, follow its positioning and safety guidance, and let the device manage the session. Our team can help you get started and make treatment part of your routine.
Which Celluma device is right for me?
